Ramon The Mexican (b. Owen George Anthony Silvera, 1956, Waltham Park, Kingston, Jamaica) was a late 60's, early 70's deejay who recorded a handful of sides for Derrick Harriot. He was introduced to Derrick Harriot through Tinga Stewart at the age of 14. His first recording was »Undertaker's Burial«. Not long after that he joined Derrick's Sound System, Derrick Harriot's Musical Chariot. Ramon actually only recorded one solo song for Harriot, it was however never released and had him singing instead of deejaying.
The impersonations of spaghetti-western dialogues he did was much appreciated and he did not only do this for Derrick but also for Lee Perry. However all recording with Ramon the Mexican where done in the span of one year.
When he emigrated to the New York, USA in 1970 that was the end of his career as Ramon. Owen returned to Jamaica in 1992. He has since found limited success as the singer Ambelique.
