Earl Lindo (a.k.a. Wia, Wya or Wire b. '53) was born in the St. James and Trelawny border in a very Christian home. He started to play piano when he went to the Excelsior high school. He first played on a Hammond organ at Treasure Isle when jamming with Tommy McCook and the Supersonics. Playing with Duke Reid he was even featured on the TV show Top Tunes Time at JBC.
The first group Earl played in was called The Meter - the name after the New Orleans funk group produced by Allen Touissant. Some members of the group were Bobby Kalphat and Bobby Denton. In the early 70's he joined the Now Generation and also started doing some initial work with Bob Marley. He replaces keyboardist Downey and joined The Wailers in 1972. Shortly after Bunny Wailer and Tosh left the group Earl also quit in order to join the band Taj Mahal.
