Duke Vin started his musical career working for Tom the Great Sebastian in the early 50's. He moved to England in 1954 where he started what is commonly regarded as the country's first Sound System - The Tickler.

During the 60's Duke played at famous clubs such as the Marquee Club on Oxford Street and then at it's new premises in Wardour Street. He also played at The Flamingo (also on Wardour Street), Ram Jam, Brixton Town Hall, Stoke Newington Hall, The Roaring Twenties and at blues dances competing in clashes with sounds such as Neville The Enchanter, Sir Coxonne, Count Suckle and others.

Duke Vin is rumoured to have one of the greatest collections of Jamaican music in the world. He is also famed for having the only existing copy of Derrick Harriot's tune »The Tickler«.
