Don Drummond was the trombonist for The Skatalites he is one of the most celebrated musicians to have come out of Jamaica. He was born in Allman Town in St Andrew, Jamaica. He attended the Alpha Boys School as a child and in 1955 joined Eric Deans Band he went on to join the Skatalites in 1964.

Whilst in the Skatalites he was responsible for a body of work that is celebrated as some of thee greatest in the Ska genre.

He stabbed his girlfriend, Margarita Mahfood, to death on New Year's Day 1965. When brought to trial for murder he was was ruled criminally insane and sent to the Bellevue Asylum where he died on May 6, 1969.
