African Star was a Sound System and record label owned by Stewart Brown.
The Sound System was formed circa 1980 in Toronto, Canada it relocated to Jamaica in around 1986.
Capleton got his first big break on the sound circa 1989, Stewart Brown has said that he worked with Capleton as he reminded him of Early B who had worked with the African Star Sound System in Canada. (1)
Stewart Brown relocated his sound to Accra in Ghana circa 1999 but occasionally issues new records on his visits Jamaica.
